Chapter 10: A life lesson from this chapter is to believe what you hear if you have the information to support it. The men that found Chris's dead body heard from friends of Chris and at first didn’t believe him, but eventually they did. When it comes to a situation like this, you need to have information to show that you were a part of his life at one point then to just say that you know the person.
Chapter 11: A life lesson for this chapter is no matter if you agree or disagree with your parents, you should still listen to them because your parents are only doing their job. Chris was always stubborn as a kid and didn’t like being told what to do, and his parents always let him go. Your parents know what is good for you.
Chapter 12: A life lesson for this chapter is the same as the last chapter; to always listen to your parents. Chris changed as he went through college and never just took a minute to listen to his parents. His Dad especially since he felt so betrayed when he heard the news of the cheating on his ex wife. In the end, life won’t go smoothly if you don’t listen to your parents. Another life lesson in this chapter is to watch what you do. Chris felt betrayed and goes and takes his anger out on not just his Dad, but family also. It affected his Mom and sister so much and he wasn’t thinking about that since he was so angered by his father.
Chapter 13: A life lesson for this chapter is that it’s better to move on than to keep thinking about it. Carine heard the news of Chris’s death and she couldn’t get over it. Also her mom went through the same thing when she heard the news and was devastated. It’s just better to leave it all behind than to keep thinking about it.
Chapter 14: A life lesson for this chapter is to always know your limits. Krakauer climbed the mountain “Devils Thumb”, a treacherous mountain, and came upon a labyrinthine glacial ice fall which left him stranded for 4 days at a base camp. He ended up surviving that and decided to continue when he knew he was not prepared for this trip. He came upon many dangers and decided to finally turn back. That’s why it’s always good to know your limits to what’s next.
